Van tyres are built to carry weight. The size on the side usually ends in a C for commercial, for example 215/65 R16C, and is followed by a load index such as 109/107.

The replacement must carry at least the load the van maker specifies. A tyre with a lower load index than the one on the van's plate or in the handbook is unsafe and can make the van unroadworthy, so read the full marking out to us, not just the three size numbers.

• On your drive or outside the house before the working day starts
• In the yard or depot, while the van is being loaded
• On site, or in a customer's car park
• At the roadside, if the tyre has let go on the way to a job

• The full tyre marking, including the C and the load index
• The make and model of the van, for example Transit, Sprinter or Vivaro
• Whether the van is loaded, and roughly how heavily
• Whether there are locking wheel nuts, and where the key is

If you run several vans, say so on the call. One visit can cover more than one vehicle when they are in the same place, and it costs less than two visits.
